Lucknow Super Giants are still awaiting a concrete update on the availability of their Sri Lankan allrounder Wanindu Hasaranga who is recovering from an injury back home. Hasaranga was signed by LSG at his base price of Rs 2 crore at the IPL mini auction last year before he tore his hamstring while representing Sri Lanka at the 2026 T20 World Cup.
As per a report in ESPNcricinfo, sources indicate that Hasaranga may not start playing “anytime soon" and he is yet to request “for an NOC (No Objection Certificate)."

Sri Lankan players with an IPL contract must pass a test before being issued an NOC to take part in the ongoing T20 tournament.
Meanwhile, according to Cricbuzz, the 28-year-old did bat during a Sri Lanka camp at the R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo but is yet to start bowling.
It’s now been nearly two months since the legspinner last played a competitive match.
Hasaranga has represented Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Rajasthan Royals in the past and in 37 matches, taken 46 wickets at an economy of 8.41.
Centrally contracted Sri Lankan players now have to undergo a stringent fitness test that include a 20m sprint, 5-0-5 agility test, Counter Movement Jump, a 2km run and skin-fold test. Players are awarded points ranging from 0-5 for each of these tests while for the 2km run and skin-fold test, they can be given as many as seven points each.
To pass the test, a player must score 17 out of 29 points.
LSG began their season with a six-wicket defeat to Delhi Capitals. However, they made a quick recovery to beat Sunrisers Hyderabad by five wickets last weekend and will next face Kolkata Knight Riders on Thursday.
On the other hand, KKR are without their Sri Lankan pacer Matheesha Pathirana who is recovering from a calf strain that prematurely ended his T20 World Cup campaign. He is expected to join KKR by mid-April.
