IPL 2026: Will Dewald Brevis Play In RCB vs CSK At Chinnaswamy? Massive Update Emerges About Star Batter

In addition to MS Dhoni, the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) will also be reportedly without Dewald Brevis for the big clash against the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) on April 5, Sunday at the Chinnaswamy Stadium. As per reports, the young South African batter is yet to pass the fitness test but could be available for CSK’s April 11th game against the Delhi Capitals at the Chepauk.

What injury is Dewald Brevis dealing with?

The South African hard-hitter had replaced Gurjapneet Singh in the five-time champions’ ranks amid the 2025 edition and had a promising season, clattering 225 runs in six matches alongside a strike rate of 180 with two fifties. Brevis, who started his IPL career with the Mumbai Indians in 2022, was retained by the Super Kings ahead of the mini-auction to form an integral part of their future. However, side strain has forced him to miss the game against the Rajasthan Royals and Punjab Kings (PBKS).

Chennai Super Kings crash to their sixth consecutive defeat at home

Meanwhile, Friday’s encounter between the Super Kings and Punjab Kings (PBKS) at the M.A Chidambaram Stadium saw the Yellow Army crash to their sixth consecutive defeat at home.

With 210 for PBKS to win after Ayush Mhatre’s 73, Priyansh Arya and Prabhsimran Singh went hammer and tongs to pile on the pressure early on the Super Kings. New Zealand’s experienced seamer Matt Henry was at the receiving end of leaking 20 runs as the openers combined to hammer three boundaries and a six. Arya was particularly destructive, clobbering 39 off 10 deliveries before Henry cleaned him up in the 11th.

Prabhsimran and Cooper Connolly experienced a miscommunication that resulted in the former’s departure for 38. But Connolly, who struck 72* on his IPL debut, kept going the momentum before perishing for 36. Shreyas Iyer hit a 26-ball half-century before his departure, with Nehal Wadhera following him in the very next ball. However, Shashank Singh and Marcus Stoinis saw the team over the line, helping Punjab Kings complete a 200+ run-chase for the ninth occasion.

Although the Super Kings’ batting performance was a marked improvement from their shambolic outing against the Royals, the Yellow Army will need Brevis to dish out some sixes from the word go.
